'Everybody's Crying Mercy' and other timeless Mose Allison songs

The jazz and blues singer Mose Allison, who died on Tuesday at age 89, was a sardonic songwriter with a flair for leavening a depressive world view with mordant wit. The Mississppi native songs were covered by The Who, Bonnie Raitt, Van Morrison, Elvis Costello, The Clash and many others,  and though they may have been written decades ago, many have a timeless relevancy to our uncertain present.
