Block Party Weekend, with Jill Scott, The Airborne Toxic Event, Diplo

It's block party weekend. At the Piazza at Schmidt's in Northern Liberties on Saturday, the Radio 104.5 summer Block Party series continiues with the Don DeLillo-inspired The Airborne Toxic Event, headlining a emo-ey modern rock bill that also includes The Naked and Famous, and Panic Years. Tonight at the Susquehanna in Camden, it's the Jill Scott Block Party, with Jilly from Philly headlining an old school R & B summer jam with soul man Anthony Hamilton, vocal group Mint Condition and ageless beat boxing marvel Doug E. Fresh. And back at the Piazza on Sunday, afternoon, it's the Mad Decent Block Party, with international big deal Philadelphia-representing (though now Los Anglese-based) Diplo, at the top of a bill that also includes Das Racist and beatmakers DJ Sega and Dirty South Joe.

An interview with the bubble-blowing Scott about her newfound success with The Light of The Sun, which hit number one upon its release last month, is here.  More info about the Radio 104.5 party here. And a sample of what's in store at the Mad Decent Block Party is below. You'll have to buy tickets to go see Jill, but the two Piazza Block parties are free.
