UPDATE: As expected, Beyonce's big Super Bowl splash is being followed by a tour announcement. The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour play the Wells Fargo Center on July 25 and Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City on July 26. Tickets for the Philadelphia show go on sale Feb. 15 at ComcastTix.com.
Before the Superdome power outage became the story of the night, Beyonce put all the brouhaha over her lip-synching the National Anthem at President Obama's inauguration this month behind her with what was surely the most scintillating big game halftime show since Prince played Super Bowl XLI in 2007.
Earlier this week at her Super Bowl press conference, Beyonce promised "I absolutely will be singing live," and it surely seemed she was, albeit with pre-recorded back up vocals, as she appeared several times larger than life on stage to a Vince Lombardi voice over.
But the dazzling part of the Beyonce Bowl wasn't about her singing so much as the hyper-energetic staging, the way she prowled the stage in skimpy black leather and knee high boots and looked the camera in the eye in her fiercest of Sasha Fierce modes. It was a spectacle worthy of the occasion, and also clearly an intensely rehearsed performance, making one wonder why she couldn't find the time to rehearse one song for the Inaugural.
She opened with a medley of "Love On Top" followed by "Crazy In Love" - without a guest rap from Jay-Z - followed by "Till the End Of Time" and "Baby Boy." After that came the much anticipated Destiny's Child reunion, with Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams back in black on "Bootylicious," "Independent Women," and before they were dismissed mid-song, "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)." The crescendo came with "Halo," with a super diva down on her knees belting out an-over-the-top power ballad, before the power went out.

They really got to do something about the "Half-time" foolishness.....as usual the half time stunk up the place, the lights should have went out during that period of time. STEPHEN1988
Simply awful halftime show. Just get rid of it altogether. Wiseman6
She was a bigger embarrassment to the league than the power outage. Mr. Smith
Each year you think it can't get any worse ... backliner
I could watch Beyonce just sitting in a chair reading a phone book. Bartleby
"Beyonce win big..."? My type words. Gah.
What a horrible show. Sorry Beyonce, you can't pull off that look anymore. verve
You knew she was going to be the half time entertainment, why did you watch? Ms.Fitt
she was AWFUL. when did she sing? all she did was shake her booty that was covered in lace. AWFUL!!!!!!!!! dontlikedems
You comments (except for one) are biased and based on nothing but Beyonce bashing. Nothing any of you haters have said has any merit what so ever. Wallow in you hate and jealousy, that's all you have to keep you going. LCBline
Let's not take it too far. She is a pretty woman, she can dance, her singing is ok. She did fine - completely as expected. Her shows are really all the same - not great, but not as horrible as some are saying. Those who are saying she was awful had their minds made up before she even took the stage. lulu- Lulu, I am not a fan of Beyonce, nor most of the SB Halftime shows. There are created to reach the popular culture in this country, and your comments are spot on.

@dontlikedems; and what is wrong with Beyonce's booty covered in lace? Would you prefer Steven Tyler's booty covered in lace? gifted21226
I'm not a fan, but I thought it was a great halftime show. I'm guessing that most of negative posters are 50 year old white conservatives that were hoping for a reunion of the Osmonds. Verve, I'm guessing you've never been in a room with a woman half as beautiful as Beyonce. E-money- The show was boring. She was boring. Same old routine. Nothing to do with old conservatives who seem to get a bad rap these days for just about every thing. I'm over 50 much, white and conservative and like to see young people rock but with good entertainment. She was just flat.
