Get your jingle bells jingling, because El Vez and his lovely Elvettes are bringing their MEX-mas extravaganza to the World Cafe Live on Tuesday night.

Get your jingle bells jingling, because El Vez and his lovely Elvettes are bringing their MEX-mas extravaganza to the World Cafe Live on Tuesday night. There may be no snow on the gound, but as the pencil moustachioed and pompadoured Mexican-American performance artist born Robert Lopez is fond of saying, "Santa Claus is sometimes brown." Below, see the man who shares a stage name with a Stephen Starr Mexican restaurant, along with Priscillita and Lisa Maria, send season greetings from backstage at a show in Germany in days of yore.

I was going to write something here about how El Vez is a sort of postmodern genius who's very smart and very funny and whose annual Christmas show makes for a magnificently merry occasion whether you get all inside the jokes or you don't, but then I saw El Vez' own description of himself and figured I'd leave it at this: "Imagine Ceasar Chavez fronting a Punk Rock band, Liberace teaching Chicano Studies, Tom Jones singing about the Virgin de Guadalupe, throw in multiple costumes changes, dancing back up singers and a rocking band and you have imagined El Vez!"

Delco Nightingale opens. Show details here.
