Versteeg likely on Richards' line; Boosh getting call
Sam Carchidi, Inquirer Staff Writer
TAMPA _ The Flyers did not do any line rushes during Tuesday’s morning skate in Tampa, but head coach Peter Laviolette hinted that newly acquired right winger Kris Versteeg would be on a unit with Mike Richards.
Said Versteeg about the Flyers, “I look at their depth, and it’s like, ‘Holy bleep!’ ”
Versteeg wore No. 32 in Chicago and Toronto, but has switched to No. 10, the number he wore growing up.
“This is a fresh start for me,” he said.
After being dealt to the Flyers, Versteeg _ who was also on the radar of Atlanta and Florida _ talked with Ben Eager and Sharp, two of his former Chicago teammates who played in Philadelphia. They gave him glowing reports.
“They told me all the great things about playing here and all the good guys in the room,” he said. “Just hearing yer assurance from guys who have been here and know a lot about it makes me feel a lot
Brian Boucher will be in the nets for Tuesday’s night’s key game in Tampa Bay, which will be without three key injured players: F Ryan Malone, F Nate Thompson and Mike Lundin, the team’s best stay-at-home defenseman.
Jody Shelley, Nik Zherdev and Oskars Bartulis were healthy scratches.

Lightning forward Simon Gagne, a former Flyer, was all smiles. His wife gave birth to their first daughter, Lily Rose.

hopefully he lights a fire under this offense- too inconsistent
psychockey- Your right! They lead the east in goals and are 3rd in the league with 3 in hand on the Canucks! Step it up you bums! Being consistent is the only reason they are 2nd in the league in wins and off to the 3rd best start in their history! Your right......way to inconsistent! I suggest you watch the Oiler's play 10 games and get back to us!
edith bunker - @edith bunker - if you read what the guy actually said, you would see that he said the OFFENSE has been inconsistent. The team has been on a steady pace, but the offense has not. They have 8 goals in their last 5 games, and have been shut out twice in that span. They need an infusion of energy, and I think Versteeg will be a great fit. Hexy4GM
How dare they give up LeClair's number.... UncleEddie- Are you kidding?? Mr. Casper the friendly ghost(no show) during playoffs. I'd be more upset over Bullard or McCrimmon not LeClair
JohnnyN - Congrats to Mr. & Mrs. Gagne. 1980
"How dare they give up LeClair's number...."

Comment removed.- Brit Selby was #10 in my day. Zherdev's a goner. brio

JohnnyN - are YOU kidding? LeClair scored 2 OT goals in one Finals, albeit for Montreal, against Los Angeles. He had 20+ pts in 1997 when the Flyers reached the Finals. What exactly did Mike Bullard do? He was only here for 2 years! LeClair was here ten years and scored 40+ goals five times. Mike Bullard? Give me a break. You should be banned from commenting with that kind of stupidity. UncleEddie
Ummm...Uncle E, Johnny was kidding. dmchoul
