Tollefsen, Bartulis on Olympic teams: Leighton to start vs. Rangers
Sam Carchidi, Inquirer Staff Writer
Two Flyers defensemen _ Ole-Kristian Tollefsen and Oskars Bartulis _ have been selected to their respective Olympic teams.
Tollefsen, who is currently sidelined with a knee injury, will represent Norway, and Bartulis will represent Latvia.
Former Flyer Patrick Thoresen was also named to Norway's team.
The Canadian team will be announced Wednesday. Chris Pronger and Mike Richards are expected to land spots, while Jeff Carter and Simon Gagne are other possibilities. The U.S. squad will be revealed Friday, and Matt Carle is a candidate.
Kimmo Timonen and Mika Pyorala are expected to be selected to Finalnd's team.

Goalie Michael Leighton will make his fourth straight start, getting the nod over Brian Boucher for Wednesday's key game against the host New York Rangers.
Boucher had a numbing agent administered to his lacerated right ring finger and felt much better at practice Tuesday, but coach Peter Laviolette is going to stay with Leighton because of his hot hand.
Laviolette would not reveal who would start Friday's scheduled Winter Classic matchup against Bostoin at Fenway Park. There is a 70 percent chance of rain that day and the game could be moved to Saturday.

Flyers are coming around. They are starting to buy into the new system and seeing results. Fewer penalties, cycling the puck in the offensive zone, aggressive forecheck....results. phillyfanintx- Hey jibberjabber - you spew the same take every day and it's tiresome. At least GeorgeBush has some funny sh*t to go with his rant. I love the lemmings - fat chicks reference. If you can't find a reason to root for our guys, why read the paper. Go get a copy of the gazette and support your frilly-pantied Pens. Blvd Al
- Oh yeah...I'm guessing that the white stick tape stays on Leighton's mask for the time being. Blvd Al
So, Leighton has a "hot hand" and Boucher has a numb hand. Excellent. rwright611
Glad Leighton's getting the start. The Pen's were having a terrible regular season last year and finished hot. Gag's is back and plays a great 2-way game. Hope he stays healthy. I hope Hartnell gets it together, and we get rid of Carcillo. How many trips to the box is this cat averaging per game? There's to much talent in the NHL to allow for undisciplined penalties. kolocop
