The Flyers have recalled Brayden Schenn from the Phantoms and sent Zac Rinaldo and Harry Zolnierczyk to Adirondack.

Schenn, 20, had four goals and four assists in four AHL games this season.

The moves leave the Flyers with about $21,000 in cap room. That's not enough to make another move, though the Flyers do have an extra forward (Andreas Nodl or Jody Shelley) and defenseman (Matt Walker or Andreas Lilja) on their roster.

Schenn is not being recalled to sit, so expect him to face the unbeaten Caps on Thursday at the WFC.

So where will Schenn play?

Good question.

The third line – Sean Couturier centering Matt Read and Scott Hartnell – is a combined plus-12, best on the team. Will Schenn go on this unit and make it an all-rookie line? Will Hartnell be slipped to the fourth line?

Coach Peter Laviolette would not say where he planned to use Schenn, but he didn't rule out using an all-rookie line. That would likely have Schenn centering Read and Couturier.

Laviolette has many different ways to use Schenn. In addition to the all-rookie line, he could put Schenn with Wayne Simmonds _ the two have chemistry from playing together with the Kings _ and Read. In that scenario, Scott Hartnell might be reunited with Danny Briere (one goal in five games) on a line with Jakub Voracek, and Couturier would center the fourth line.

Schenn was acquired with Simmonds and a 2012 No. 2 draft pick in the stunning June deal that sent captain Mike Richards to Los Angeles.

Rinaldo provided feisty, surprisingly disciplined play, but with Shelley's suspension over, the Flyers thought it was best to send him to the Phantoms. Shelley, the team's heavyweight enforcer, could be in the lineup Thursday against visiting Washington.

As for Zolnierczyk, he made a flashy NHL debut _ scoring a third-period goal _ in Tuesday's 7-2 win in Ottawa before being returned to the Phantoms.

Quotable. Flyers goalie Ilya Bryzgalov when asked what he knows about Washington's Alex Ovechkin: "He's Russian. He wears No. 8. He signed a contract with Gillette."

Believe it or not, Bryzgalov, 31, has only faced Ovechkin's teams twice in his career. He is 1-1, and Ovechkin has no goals and one assist against him.
