Team Canada, looking for redemption after a disatrous showing in 2006, scored an impressive 8-0 win over Norway in a preliminary-round game Tuesday.
Two Flyers _ Mike Richards and Chris Pronger _ helped trigger the win for the Redeem Team.
Richards had a goal and was plus-two, while Pronger contributed an assist and was plus-three.
Cherry Hill native Bobby Ryan scored a goal to steer the United States past Switzerland, 3-1. The Swiss team included former Flyers defenseman Luca Sbisa.
Lativia, which has the Flyers' Oskars Bartulis as one of its defensemen, dropped an 8-2 decision to Alex Ovechkin-led Russia, the tourney favorite.
Flyers defenseman Kimmo Timonen and his Finland team will face Belarus Wednesday at 3 p.m. In 2006, Finland won the silver medal in Turin, Italy. Team Canada finished seventh in that tournament.

Former Flyer Ole-Kristian Tollefsen did not dress for Norway in its loss to Canada. Tollefsen, who was recently traded to Detroit, was late arriving to Vancouver because of an illness in the family, a Norway spokesman said. He is expected to play Thurssday against Team USA.
