Flyers defenseman Chris Pronger will not play Monday against Boston because of an undisclosed injury, a club source said.
The Flyers have been trying to hide the injury.
Pronger, 36, went up the tunnel and into the locker room with a few miniutes left in Game 1. Asked if his star defenseman was injured after that 7-3 loss, coach Peter Laviolette said Pronger was fine.
On Monday, general manager Paul Holmgren, through the public relations department, said Pronger was OK in a text message, implying he would play.
Pronger missed 21 straight games _ including the first five in the playoffs against Buffalo _ as he was recovering from a broken right hand.
The latest injury may be his back, though the Flyer won't confirm it.
Asked for a comment before Monday's game, Holmgren said, "There is nothing to talk about" through a team spokesman.
Brian Boucher will be in the nets Monday against Boston as the Flyers try to even the series. In the opener, Pronger was minus-3.
