Nodl joins Flyers' injury list

Flyers winger Andreas Nodl will not play Saturday night against visiting Columbus because of what the team is calling a lower-body injury.

A defensive specialist, Nodl has just one point, an assist, in nine games.

Injured forwards James van Riemsdyk and Matt Read took part in the morning skate. They figure to be game-time decisions.

Chris Pronger, who injured his right eye on Oct. 24, continues to make progress but will not play Saturday. The Flyers have not ruled out the possibility of him playing Wednesday against Tampa Bay in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Pronger is wearing a visor for the first time since juniors.

"It IS clear, so I CAN see through it," he told reporters after Saturday's morning skate.

But he isn't a fan of it. The Flyers' eye doctor, Stephen Goldman, won't clear him to play unless he wears one.

Pronger now has 20/20 vision in the injured eye, GM Paul Holmgren said on Friday, but Pronger said his vision isn’t quite 100 percent yet.

“I’ve got to keep seeing how I do after each day," he said. "I’ve been slowly doing more and more every day and we’ll see how my head responds.”

Ilya Bryzgalov (see video, below), who has had two straight solid starts, will be in the nets Saturday. Overall, he is 5-4-1 with a 3.04 GAA and .887 save percentage. Bryzgalov will face the Blue Jackets' Steve Mason, who is 2-9-1 with a 3.36 GAA and .880 save percentage.

The Flyers' top three scorers are all on the same line_ Claude Giroux (17 points), Jaromir Jagr (13) and Scott Hartnell (12).

Hartnell and rookie Sean Couturier lead the Flyers with plus-7 ratings.
