JVR, Carcillo miss Flyers' practice

POSTED: Tuesday, March 1, 2011, 2:11 PM

James van Riemsdyk (lower-body injury) and Dan Carcillo (ill) missed Tuesday's practice, but GM Paul Holmgren thought the Flyers' wingers would be able to play Thursday against visiting Toronto.

JVR absorbed a crunching check from Nick Boynton at Monday's practice. Holmgren said the check did not cause the injury.

At Tuesday's practice, Nik Zherdev was on a line with Mike Richards and Kris Versteeg, while Andreas Nodl was with Jeff Carter and Claude Giroux.

The Flyers shuffled their PP units, a development that didn't sit well with some of the players.

The PP units looked like this: Danny Briere-Scott Hartnell-Ville-Leino, Andrej Meszaros-Kimmo Timonen; Richards-Giroux-Carter, Chris Pronger-Matt Carle.

Sergei Bobrovsky is expected to face Toronto. The Flyers are hoping Blair Betts (lacerated finger) and Pronger (hand) are able to play.

He took out Hossa also while in Chicago and Hossa actually missed time. Yikes. Love that enthusiasm but you're on our side now,Nick.

Hey, lets put Nodl on a line with our best player so that can completely suck out his effectiveness as well. Nodl, the line-killer.

Your play in the games is a reflection of how hard you practice. I've played hockey my entire life and hitting drills are something that are always done and scrimmages are supposed to simulate game action, which includes checking. You're not out to hurt each other but you'll never get used to it in a game if you don't practice it!

Tonka you should be more worried about your hawks making the playoffs not which round other teams will lose in.

ive played hockey and we never went full bore into each other at practice. if this was the norm for the flyers, we wouldve heard about other instances.
