Homer doing well in hospital; police issue report
Sam Carchidi, Inquirer Staff Writer
Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren, who suffered broken bones in a bicycle accident Monday in Avalon, told a team spokesman on Tuesday that he was "sore but in good spirits."
Holmgren, 55, was wearing a helmet when he lost control of the bike.
He is at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, where he is being treated for a broken shoulder and ribs, the Flyers said.
The hospital lists him in stable condition.
Peter Luukko, the Flyers' president, said it appears Holmgren "hit a rut" while pedaling his bike. He said the GM also required stitches on his arm and legs.
"Paul's tough and he'll be right back in the game," Luukko said. "....It's certainly nothing life-threatening, and we'll have him back."

Bummer, man. I similarly took a header over my handle bars while biking last September 11. I ended up with a Grade 5 separation of the AC joint. T. WHAT a nightmare it has been for the last 12 months! Open shoulder surgery, endless physical therapy, etc. There are only 2 worse injuries for a shoulder: a Grade 6 AC separation and a broken shoulder. Homer has the latter, and I guarantee it will e 2 years in his case before he's even back to 85-90%. Homer, go to the Rothman Institute, my man. Either way, you're in for a VERY rough go, even for someone as tough as you, bro. If you don't already have one - trust me on this - get a nice recliner, if you want to sleep for the first 2 months... 5NOT4
Health-conscious, fit guys gonna bike at the beach. Haters gonna hate! Straight up. 5NOT4
