Gagne may play Fri.; decision time in morning

POSTED: Thursday, May 6, 2010, 12:33 PM

Left winger Simon Gagne, who broke his right foot in Game 4 of the conference quarterfinals against New Jersey, was a surprising participant in the Flyers' practice in Voorhees on Thursday morning _ and may play in the conference semifinals against Boston Friday.

Earlier in the week, the Flyers said Gagne would be examined Friday, which was supposed to be the earliest he could begin skating.

Amazing how an 0-3 series deficit speeds up the healing process.

Gagne said the fact he could put weight on his foot Wednesday was what caused him to put on the skates Thursday. He said he felt good at practice.

Gagne had an MRI on Thursday afternoon, and GM Paul Holmgren said he continues to heal nicely.

Holmgren said a decision on whether Gagne will play in Game 4 will be based on how he feels in Friday's morning skate.

Gagne would give the Flyers' scuffling offense some much-needed life and would bring some stability to the scrambled lines and the power play.

why not try to play? If you further injure it, and we lose he has the whole off season to get healthy.

Guess reality must have set in that there may not be a game 5 to worry about. Won't be at 100%, but what the hell we need him. Let's go Flyers, one game at a time.

Hey Dianne....."Let's go Flyers, one game at a time".....spoken like a true LOSER. But in a way you're right. A mean in 3 games you've had the lead for almost a full 2 minutes. Very impressive. No reason they can't win 4 in a row, right? You douschebag.
    GO BRUINS!!!

Hey Go Bruins, does your mommy know you are using the computer instead of doing your homework, or did you drop out of grade school due to your rapier wit? Games 1 and 2 could have gone either way. The Bruins were outplayed for most of Game 3. Get a clue. And grow up. Dope.

Chris M I understand your reasoning of believing its over, but really? Firing the GM seems to be an uneducated jump to conclusion. The Flyers were in the making of being a train wreck for most of the season, then Peter was able to make an impact on their style of play but more importantly their habits; particularly partying. (I haven't seen Scott H drunk at Pat's cheesesteaks since Peter came to town) I feel like their run in the playoffs, mainly the first round against the devils, was impressive given the context of actual expectations of the Flyers. I can see the Flyers coming out and winning the next two, and if they win the series that will be a miracle to say the least, but regardless of the outcome concerning this series all Flyers fans should be hopeful of next season. If we can play with the intensity and what seems to be a more mature approach to the game as of lately I can definitely see us doing some damage in the future with this squad.
