Flyers making push for Morris

I'm att he Skate Zone in Voorhees, trade headquarters, where Flyers general manager will meet with the media shortly.

With a little less than a half hour until the trade dealine ends, the Flyers are still pursuing Phoenix defenseman Derek Morris. Morris, 30, makes $3.95 million and can be an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

The Flyers will have to clear cap space to get him.

As far as a three-way deal that would send Marty Biron from Phoenix to Buffalo, forget about it _ though Biron could still get dealt. It looks unlikley, though.

Buffalo filled its need for a goalie by acquiring Mikael Tellqvist from Phoenix for a fourth-round pick in the 2010 draft.

Tellqvist, 29, is 7-5-1 with a 2.86 goals-against average and .906 save percentage in 15 games as Ilya Bryzgalov's backup. A seven-year veteran, Tellqvist is 43-40-8 with two ties in 107 games with the Maple Leafs and Coyotes. He has a 3.04 GAA and .897 save percentage with six shutouts.

Tellqvist will split time with Patrick Lalime while starter Ryan Miller recovers from a high ankle sprain.

Some of the Flyers' Eastern Conference opponents got better. Pittsburgh picked up Bill Guerin and Boston acquired Mark Recchi.

How is Morris different than what we already have on defense, except his contract?
