Flyers give Holmgren three-year extension

POSTED: Tuesday, January 18, 2011, 2:34 PM

General manager Paul Holmgren will sign a three-year contract extension Tuesday, the Flyers confirmed.
Holmgren, 55, is in his fifth season as GM and 32d as a member of the organization. He has been the architect of the Flyers' remarkabke turnaround in recent years.
In 2007-08, his first full season as GM, the club improved by 39 points (56 to 95) from its NHL-worst record the previous year and reached the conference finals.

Holmgren deserved the extension. He's put together a great team that should be setup nicely for a few years.
