The Flyers made a handful of roster moves Tuesday, recalling forwards Ben Holmstrom and Harry Zolnierczyk and sending Matt Walker to the Phantoms.

The callups were needed because of upper-body injuries to Danny Briere and Matt Read, each of whom will miss Wednesday's game in Buffalo, GM Paul Holmgren said.

Read will also be sidelined Thursday against New Jersey; there is a chance Briere will play in that game, Holmgren said.

Chris Pronger (eye injury) remains on IR, but Holmgren is hopeful he will begin skating on his own on Wednesday. Pronger continues to make progress, the GM said, adding the best-case scenario would be for his star defenseman to begin skating with the team on Friday.

The Flyers have 23 players, the maximum allowed, on their roster; they have about $392,000 in cap space, according to assistant GM Barry Hanrahan.

These were the lines at Tuesday's practice: Giroux centering Hartnell and Jagr; Couturier (on the second unit) centering JVR and Voracek; Talbot centering Simmonds and Nodl; Holmstrom centering Harry Z. and Rinaldo on the "Phantoms Line." Jody Shelley was alternated onto the units.
