The Flyers made qualifying offers Monday to four restricted free agents: forwards Jason Akeson and Tye McGinn, and defensemen Brandon Manning and Erik Gustafsson.

The Flyers retained the right to match another team's offers to any of the players.

Gustafsson has opted to sign with the KHL in Russia, but the Flyers retain his rights if he returns to the NHL.

The Flyers did not make a qualifying offer to goalie Cal Heeter, 25, who will become an unrestricted free agent on Tuesday.

Heeter, signed as a free agent out of Ohio State in 2012, had a 2.65 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage with the AHL's Phantoms last season. In his only game with the Flyers last season, he was shaky in a 6-5 shootout loss to Carolina, one in which he allowed four goals on the first 14 shots before settling down.

"We talked long and hard about it," general manager Ron Hextall said, "and we just felt it was better to move on."

Winger Zac Rinaldo is the only player expected to be on the Flyers' 2014-15 roster who can become a restricted free agent next season. Jay Rosehill, Kimmo Timonen, and Pierre-Edouard Bellemare will be unrestricted free agents next year.
