Flyers' contract with Talbot violates CBA

POSTED: Monday, July 4, 2011, 2:02 AM

The Flyers will apparently have to restructure the five-year, $9 million contract they gave to free-agent forward Max Talbot on Friday.

According to TSN, the Flyers violated the Collective Bargaining Agreement by reducing Talbot's salary by more than 50 percent between the third and fourth years -- from $2.25 million to $1 million.

There is a slight chance the Flyers will be fined for the oversight.

I'm sure Comcast will pay the fine with ease. Sign and trade for Stamkos!

I think we all would be willing to make this sacrifice in order to protect the integrity of the CBA.

How did the front office miss that? This is a sign that something is radically wrong in there. Who structured the contract in the first place? I think Holmgren enjoys being chuckled at by all the other GM's. He better make sure this team lands him a Cup next spring or someone needs to ship him out!

Easy fix on the contract and the fine won't be material so not a big deal. Where's the next transaction? Holmgren must've went on vacation.
