Flyers-Penguins opener

POSTED: Thursday, January 10, 2013, 8:35 AM

It has been rumored for about a week, but a source familiar with the process said on Wednesday it's now virtually certain that the Flyers will host their bitter rivals, the Pittsburgh Penguins, in the teams' season opener on Jan. 19.

The game is tentatively scheduled for 3 p.m.

Penn State plays Vermont at the Wells Fargo Center that night at 7:30. The source said the time of that game will be moved back, if necessary. It will probably be moved to 8:15.

No Luongo. Forget about the Internet rumors that the Flyers will acquire goalie Roberto Luongo. Multiple sources say the Flyers have no interest. Ilya Bryzgalov is their man.

Did the fans get anything out of this lockout? Did they lower ticket prices (which are obscene)? Did the get rid of the instigator? No and no.
