Flyers' PP keys win over Devils

The Flyers' power play keyed their 2-1 exhibition win over the New Jersey Devils Thursday at the Wells Fargo Center.

The Flyers got PP goals from Wayne Simmonds and Jaromir Jagr _ Claude Giroux had the primary assist on both scores _ as they improved to 4-1-1 in the preseason.

In the last two games, the PP is 5 for 12, with Jagr scoring three of the goals. (Last year, the team was 19th in the 30-team NHL, clicking at 16.6 percent.)

“Just the way he gets open, it’s pretty unbelievable," said Giroux, a.k.a. "Little Mario." "He moves the puck quick and it takes two seconds and he is open again. Anytime you play with a guy like that, it's going to open up a lot of plays.”

Giroux has seven assists in his four preseason games.

After a rusty first period, Chris Pronger did well in his preseason debut.

“He looked good. Anytime you’ve got a player like [him] in the lineup, it kind of slows down the game and makes everybody more comfortable," Giroux said. "Tonight, he was a really good player.”
