Courting season for Parise

POSTED: Tuesday, June 12, 2012, 9:45 AM
Devils forward Zach Parise scored 31 goals and tallied 38 assists in 82 games last regular season. (Matt Slocum/AP)

The Flyers will be among numerous teams interested in talking with New Jersey star left winger Zach Parise when he becomes an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

Understandably, Parise was in no mood to address his status after the Kings won the Stanley Cup by blasting his Devils, 6-1, on Monday.

“I’m not talking about that,” he told reporters in Los Angeles.

Parise had just one goal in the Finals; the Devils want to re-sign him.

“I think Zach is a big thing the organization has to take care of first, no doubt about that,” goaltender Marty Brodeur said. “They need to try to lock him in and lure him into staying. He’s a franchise player and a guy the fans love. As a captain, he’s a great leader and he did a great job first year as a captain to bring a team counted out early in the season to what we accomplished.”

Former Flyer Simon Gagne was one of the first Kings to skate around the ice with the Stanley Cup. It was a greatest snapshot of his underrated career.

A few minutes later, in the sweetest moment of their careers, Mike Richards handed the Cup to his best friend, Jeff Carter.

Richards on the Flyers organization: "They taught me how to be a winner."

He then said this about the Kings: “This is the closest team I've ever been a part of."

Parise, Nash- BLAH BLAH BLAH... Neither happening. So just stop writing these dumb articles already. There is no chance, ZERO. Only high price salary we would bring in is Weber and that is only bc we would need to trade for him, which would mean cap$ leaving.

LA goaltender (Quick) only allowed 7 goals in last 6 playoff games! The Flyers have soon the future and it's not in Philly.

Congrats to former FLYER SIMON GAGNE on WINNING HIS 1ST CUP last night! What a class guy he is! as for needing more scoring.... we can score goals weneed a tough as nails Defenseman to replace what our Captain Chris Pronger brings to the game and a player like that on our FLYERSwould make tis team one of the best in the East! Hommer needs to do what it takes to get Shea Weber from Nashville before Sutter signs with the Red Wings. Send them JVR, 1st round pick this year aand next plus rights to Carle anda young Defesman from the minors like Marc-Andre or Manning maybe even another pick like a 3rd round anda 4th just get it done HOMMER!!!! SOON TOO

Captain Ego will never share the spotlight with Parise or Nash. Pronger doesn't play nice with other Captains. Hey, but maybe Holmgren can get Jagirl to re-up, that'll sell lots of shirts, in lieu of those cool Stanley Cup Finals jerseys.

Hey Sam...you are awfully quiet today, considering you and your fellow Philly reporter cronies are the ones who constantly dissed Mike Richards (turning the fans against him). Now that he has his Cup, you can take all your reporter buddies out for a big dinner of CROW! Richie is a winner, you are a loser!

Giroux and Parise on the same line would be incredible!

Between Nash and Parise, its Parise all day, but don't think either will materialize. NJ would be foolish to let him walk

Parise makes zero sense, Nash makes zero sense, if Holmgren straps our cap with more forwards it makes zero sense. The only names I'd want to hear are Luke Schenn (via a possible trade), Barrett Jackman, Ryan Suter or Shea Weber (via possible trade).

So many articles about Parise, Weber, Nash....not one break down on where this cap space will come from.

Coulda Shoulda Woulda...not happening. No way NJD allows Parise to leave to sign with Flyers, Rangers, or anyone else. Flyers need to strength their defense and not worry about trading for Nash, or signing Parise.

Anybody else have a mental picture of Sam Carchidi popping the cork on a bottle of champagne as Richards skated around with the Cup?
