Charlie Sheen salutes Pronger; Flyers raising ticket prices

POSTED: Monday, March 28, 2011, 1:47 AM

Which coach would you rather have in the Stanley Cup playoffs?
The Flyers’ Peter Laviolette, a Cup winner
The Penguins’ Dan Bylsma, a Cup winner
The Capitals’ Bruce Boudreau, just for comedic effect

Chris Pronger is sidelined as he recovers from hand surgery, but the Flyers’ defenseman still drew some national attention Sunday when he showed up on Charlie Sheen’s Facebook page.

Sheen’s Facebook page displayed a photo of Pronger wearing a blue shirt that says, “Duh, Winning.”

For some reason, “Winning” has become one of Sheen’s popular catchphrases _ as if the word was never used before.

Underneath the photo of Pronger, were these words, apparently written by Sheen: “Are you #WINNING? Chris Pronger from the Philadelphia Flyers is.”

The Flyers are raising ticket prices for the 2011-12 season, a club official told Comcast SportsNet.

Shawn Tilger, The Flyers’ senior vice president for business operations, said the rise in the salary cap _ from $39 million in 2005-06 to $59.4 million this season _ played a role in the ticket increase.

Tickets will increase between 8 to 10 percent, CSN reported, adding that the lower bowl will be restructured into six different price ranges. The seats behind the south net, where the Flyers shoot twice a game, will cost more than the seats at the north end, where the team shoots once.

Richards needs to be replaced at captain by Pronger when he returns.

I can't determine who's the bigger idiot, you or your buddy kevin44. As MissMolly says; "
Yes by all means, strip the captain of the C with a couple of games left in the season, because, you know, teams do that on a regular basis."

    Please child...

I hope Pronger went in that locker room last nite and glared/sneered at his low scoring teammates

How much longer before Lavvy gives Zherdev another shot?? They need scoring and Powe, Nodl, Carcillo aren't going to provide that. I know he's a "defensive liability" but how much worse can it get than allowing 30+ shots every game?

Uh, shouldn't the seats behind the South net, where the Flyers shoot twice, be LESS money since they don't shoot as much as the visiting team does at the North net?

Lavy will unleash Zherdev a few mores times, be patient. If I'm Pronger, I bring my Hart Trophy and Cup ring into the locker room and tell Richie to give it up the rest of the way. They can sort out hurt feelings later, because "almost right there" isn't going to cut it.

Maybe you have a very good point there 4800. Richards may not be the guy to act as leader of this fine group of so-called offensive players. Though last night's stick infraction was a clear accidental incident, a captain has to be in better control of his stick at any juncture of the game, particularly at that time of the contest. Why has nothing been mentioned about the lack of production on the Flyers powerplay? It's been downright porrous for far too long now and the playoffs are fast approaching. With a talented bunch like the one on this roster, there's no way in hell a group of five can't function at a better rate than the current production we're seeing on a game by game basis. It's absolutely embarrassing and frustrating from a Flyers fan standpoint. They have two weeks to shape up or else they'll be shipping out in about three and a half weeks for good!

One and done, especially if they play Tampa in the first round. This team has no heart, no passion, no guts. An embarrassment to the Flyers uniform

Babooska is the definition of a fair weather fan, what a punk. Has no one ever seen a team playing to stay healthy? They know they are making the playoffs, they don't care about finishing first, you all do. They just want to finish healthy and with full tanks. Come playoff time, expect to see them switch it on and you will all eat your negatuve words. GO FLYERS!!!! WINNING!!!

First as a disclaimer,I am not a Mike Richards fan. Yes, he shows up some games but more often, especially this year he has not made the impact on the ice that I see from many many Captains around the NHL. He looks out of shape, always behind the play, can't keep up with opposing players. I also agree that Zerderv who has 15 goals by the way is a better option than any of the other fourth line players who at least has some hand skills and can receive and make a pass, unlike Carcillo or Nodel.
