The Flyers' slump as been a team effort.
The offense has been stagnant. The goalies haven't made the game-turning saves. The defense has allowed too many odd-man rushes and too much traffic in front.
The Flyers will try to rectify those mistakes Sunday when they face the playoff-hungry New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden. The game is on NBC at 12:30 p.m.
Center Jeff Carter, who is tied for the team lead with 28 goals, will miss the game with the flu. He returned from his grandfather's funeral and tried to play Saturday but struggled in a 5-3 loss to Buffalo.
The Flyers are 4-0 against the Rangers this season, outscoring them, 15-6.
Henrik Lundqvist is 0-3 with a 3.69 GAA against the Flyers this season. Brian Boucher, a Ranger killer, is expected to start for the Flyers, who are trying to avoid their first four-game losing streak of the season.
Look for Dan Carcillo or Jody Shelley _ perhaps both _ to return to the Flyers' lineup in an attempt to give the team some energy.
Will the Flyers finally play 60 solid minutes for the first time in a few weeks?

The Flyers' lead in the East has dwindled to two points over Boston with a game in hand; they also have a two-point lead over Pittsburgh in the Atlantic, and have three games in hand on the Penguins.
