Bryz will speak; Jagr honored

UDATED at 7:30 p.m.

The muzzle has been removed.

Feeling pressure from the Professional Hockey Writers Association, the Flyers have again changed their stance and now say Ilya Bryzgalov will be allowed to talk to the media during all days of the week — except the morning of games.

In other words, everything is back to normal.

UPDATED: At 12:30 p.m. Monday, the Flyers announced yet ANOTHER policy with Ilya Bryzgalov: He will now talk to the media _ except the day before a game and the day of a game. He will talk after a game.

Ilya Shh-zgalov, however, will not talk today - even though it's two days before the game.

This is getting funnier than an SNL episode!

BTW, the Philadelphia chapter of the Professional Hockey Writers Association has filed a complaint. The Flyers could be fined if they do not allow access.

New Flyers goalie Ilya Bryzgalov, a free spirit who has livened up the team's locker room with his hilarious observations, is turning silent.

Sort of.

Through the team's public-relations department, Bryzgalov requested that he no longer talk to the media (and, by extension, the fans) except after games in which he plays.

The coaching staff and management supported the decision, the Flyers said. (The feeling here is they may have sugguested it.)

Bryzgalov has struggled mightily since signing a nine-year, $51 million deal. He is 4-4-1 with a 3.16 GAA and .880 save percentage.

Apparently, the 31-year-old goalie _ who played in a non-hockey market in Phoenix before coming to the Flyers _ thinks the move will help improve his focus.

So, on Halloween, he put on a (Silent) Steve Carlton costume.

The Flyers said it was a joint decision, apparently between Bryzgalov and ther coaches.

Flyers winger Jaromir Jagr was named the NHL's third star of the week.

Goalies Carey Price of Montreal and Nikolai Khabibulin of Edmonton  were named the No. 1 and No. 2 stars, respectively.

Jagr had a league-best five goals last week, including the 113th game-winner of his career.
