For Flyers forward Danny Briere, the news keeps getting worse.

The Flyers announced Monday that Briere would be sidelined indefinitely because of a concussion. He was injured during Saturday's practice in Voorhees, crashing into the boards during a drill.

Defenseman Nick Grossmann was injured during Friday's practice and is day to day with an unspecified upper-body injury.

"That's part of hockey and that happens," said defenseman Kimmo Timonen before the team released the extent of Briere's injury. "That tells you how hard we practiced actually that week....You never want to lose two players because of practice, but it's part of the game and I've seen that happen. Hopefully, these guys get back soon."

Briere, 35, who is scoreless in his last 13 games, missed four games earlier this season with a wrsit injury. He missed six games with a concussion last season.

There has been conjecture that the Flyers would ask Briere to waive his no-movement clause and might deal him before the April 3 trade deadline. That now is highly unlikely unless he makes an amazingly quick recovery.

Boston has reportedly shown interest in Briere, who has been one of the NHL's best playoff performers during his career.
