Boston coach whines about Pronger

POSTED: Monday, May 3, 2010, 2:29 PM

BOSTON _ Boston Bruins coach Claude Julien didn’t call Flyers defensemen Chris Pronger a dirty player.

     But the implication was there.

“We all know,” Julien said on Sunday, “Chris Pronger takes liberties sometimes.”

Pronger, who got into a high-sticking scrum with Boston’s Mark Recchi in Game 1 that resulted in the Flyers getting a power play, didn’t take Julien’s bait.

“I just worry about my game and let the rest of them do the talking,” he said after Monday’s morning skate.

Flyers coach Peter Laviolette, perhaps sensing that Julien was trying to get the referees' attention, defended Pronger.

“I thought his game was pretty clean,” he said. “That Mark Recchi guy seemed to want to take a couple runs at Pronger. I thought Prongs’ game was pretty good. I didn’t see him really taking liberties. I saw him competing hard in battles. He had the altercation with Mark, but that’s Chris’ job, just like (Zdeno) Chara’s job on the other side is to try to play our skilled guys with an edge.”

Game 2 is Monday night, and the Flyers _ who seemed relaxed and confident after the morning skate _ will try to even the series.

In the four previous playoff meetiings between the teams, the Game 2 winner has won the series.

I liked the "sixer guy" saying he didn't want any more Flyers talk. Because...we're dying for more sixer basketball! I mean, who doesn't want to see more of that terrific NBA product? I just love it.

Pronger slashes and cross-checks on every shift, but the NHL has the star system, just like the NBA. Flyer fans can't cry b/c Crosby isn't the only golden boy who gets away with murder.

Trolling philly newspapers when you're a Boston fan is a questionable activity. When you talk about teams peaking, you have to acknowledge the fact the Flyers took the #2 seed Devils out of the playoffs in 5 games.

The Red Sox are going to win a World Series again? Why? Are they getting another shipment of steroids and HGH soon? They sure could use it after getting swept by the Orioles this past weekend. As far as I am concerned, the Red Sox have not won a World Series without steroids since 1918. They did not reverse the curse, they shot it full of steroids. Ohh yea, Flyers in 6.

didn't Recchi take the extra 2 that little scuffle? I love Recchi. He was great here and just keeps on playing. The smarts that have kept him in the league this long will have him far far away from Pronger the rest of this series - he knows the alternative is likely joining Sturm on the injured list. orchard... they ban you from your hometown papers?

Orchard...Seems like your teams have been doing a lot of cheating in the name of championships...Patriots and the Red Sox? Stay off our message boards, since though you were having "fun", your comments were nothing more than trying to stir up trouble. The Red Sox are aging and overrated and have no chance of winning a WS for the next few years.

The coach is no different then the Boston Announcers. Man those people in Boston whine about everything. Pretty Annoying.

As for your Patriots... Nobody cares about their superbowls. It isn't hard to win when you CHEAT! You guys were caught cheating. The one year you didn't cheat the Giants beat you in the superbowl.
