Mason signs contract extension

The Flyers have confirmed that they have signed goalie Steve Mason to a multi-year contract extension. While no terms were given,'s Pierre LeBrun, who broke the story, stated it would be three years and $12.3 million.

Mason who was acquired April 3, 2013 from the Columbus Blue Jackets, had a contract for this season of $1.5 million.

The 25-year-old Mason is 19-11-5 with a 2.48 goals against average and .917 save percentage this season.

He is expected to start in tonight’s game at the Wells Fargo Center against the New York Islanders, although coach Craig Berube wouldn’t say for sure at today’s morning skate.
