NEWARK, NJ -- Flyers general manger Paul Holmgren says that he expects Vinny Lecavalier to miss just one game due to a facial contusion suffered during a fight in Friday’s 7-0 loss to visiting Washington.
“It’s sore,” Holmgren said before Saturday’s game at the Prudential Center against the New Jersey Devils. “I expect him to play Tuesday (at Carolina).”
There were some reports that suggested Lecavalier lost teeth, but Holmgren said that wasn’t the case.
Holmgren also said any reports that Steve Downie suffered an orbital fracture were not true. Downie has a concussion, suffered during a fight on Friday.
“Steve is a little better today,” said Holmgren, who added that Downie will be released Sunday from the hospital.
Holmgren Expects No Suspensions
Holmgren said he expects no suspension from the four Flyers involved in fights that broke out with 14 minutes, 29 seconds left in Friday’s game. Goalie Ray Emery, Wayne Simmonds, Lecavalier and Brayden Schenn.
When asked if he knew for sure, Holmgren responded, “I would assume I would have heard something by now.”
