NEWARK, NJ -- Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren says that Vinny Lecavalier is day to day with a facial contusion suffered during a fight in Friday’s 7-0 loss to the visiting Washington Capitals.

Holmgren said that Steve Downie, also injured in a fight against Washington, was making progress. “Steve is doing better, he remains in the hospital and will be released tomorrow,” Holmgren said in a statement released by the Flyers. “He is out indefinitely with a concussion.”

The Flyers play tonight at the Prudential Center against the New Jersey Devils. Tye McGinn has been recalled from the Phantoms.
