Bob earns second consecutive start

UNIONDALE, NY -- Flyers coach Peter Laviolette said following today’s morning skate at the Nassau Coliseum that Sergei Bobrovsky will make his second consecutive start in goal tonight against the New York Islanders.

UNIONDALE, NY -- Flyers coach Peter Laviolette said following today’s morning skate at the Nassau Coliseum that Sergei Bobrovsky will make his second consecutive start in goal tonight against the New York Islanders.

“I think his numbers speak for themselves, he has been terrific,” Laviolette said. “His numbers are excellent and he has played well against the Islanders and he really played well against Carolina.

On Tuesday, Bobrovsky made 36 saves in the Flyers 2-1 win at Carolina. He was named the game’s third star.

Bobrovsky is 9-3-1 in 16 games this season with a 2.45 goals against average and a .919 save percentage.

He also starred in the Flyers earlier 4-3 overtime win over the host Islanders on Nov. 23. Bobrovsky replaced starter Ilya Bryzgalov after the Islanders had jumped to a 3-1 lead and stopped 23 shots in relief.

During his career, Bobrovsky is 6-0-0 in seven games against the Islanders with a 1.83 goals against average and .944 save percentage.
