How about a limited measure requiring firms with city contracts or aid to offer sick leave?
Right thing, and a major improvement over citywide proposal
Will hike city costs and mean reduced city services
Sends an important message that all employers should provide paid sick leave
Tough enough to do business with the city; one more hurdle

City officials warn that the plan could add costs to city contracts, but City Council nonetheless has approved 15-2 a measure requiring agencies and firms doing business with the city to offer paid sick days.

That's a step back from an earlier proposal to require all city employers to offer a minimum of four sick days - a bill that died in Council in the face of an almost certain veto by Mayor Nutter.
