Is Nutter committed to traditional public schools?

Public schools advocate Helen Gym made an astute observation in a recent blog post for The Notebook, the site for an independent group of parents, students and educators. Gym pointed out how strange it was to hear a big-city Democratic mayor make a statement that seemed to pull away from the traditional concept of public schools. Yes, she was talking about Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter. No word yet on how or whether Nutter responded. Here's Gym's post.
