Spain's El Economista newspaper says the road should fetch an estimated 22 billion euros, or $34 billion U.S. Rendell held the auction after lawmakers resisted his plan to raise tolls to pay for almost $1 billion in yearly road improvements.
Earlier, Bloomberg said Economista newspaper questioned whether Spanish companies can raise the needed funds. Story here.
