Wal-Mart cuts prices to boost sagging sales: report

Profits are up but sales have been down at the largest retail chain.

Wal-Mart profits have held up through the recession, thanks to lower costs. But sales are down in the past three quarters, so Wal-Mart is cutting prices, especially on food items. That puts pressure on rival supermarkets, Wall St Journal reports here.
