Students arrested after 1,000+ riot at UD campus

It took 75 police officers to calm a crowd of 1,000 on South College Ave. at the University of Delaware campus last night. Two undergraduates and a Virginia resident who was filming the rowdies spilling out of a party led by a group of rugby players were arrested and charged with disorderly offenses. The video production group I'm Shmacked stuck proceedings on social media and some posters urged the crowd on.  More in the Newark (Del.) Post here.

"Bunch of drunk freshmen running around and burning stuff," reports my son, John, a junior. "It's hard enough to study cost accounting when it's quiet around here."

"They're calling for Round Two tonight," says his brother, Mark, whose quieter street of student apartments "was most definitely un-affiliated." (Update: "It's pretty calm tonight.")
