Solar-panel maker plans 75 hires after GE sale: governor

"Expanding manufacturing capacity" at a solar-panel plant

"Motech Americas, a solar company in Newark [Del.], currently employs more than 70 people and is in the process of expanding manufacturing capacity. They are expected to add 75 more jobs before the end of the year," says Delaware Gov. Jack Markell in this statement. Taiwan-owned Motech bought the plant from General Electric, which had been winding down production, last year.

Markell wants Delaware power-users to buy and install more solar panels. Including planned wind-power construction off Cape Henlopen, he wants the state to rely on "sustainable" energy for 30% of its electrical needs by 2029, when he's long out of office.
