NJ dope lobby braces for Monday marijuana vote



Days after voting down gay marriage, New Jersey lawmakers are "on the verge of passing the state’s first medical marijuana bill, making New Jersey the 14th state to allow access to medical marijuana for qualified patients. The New Jersey State Senate and Assembly will take final legislative votes Monday on the New Jersey Compassionate Use Medical Marijuana Act," writes Tony Newman of the pro-pot Drug Policy Alliance.

This follows yesterday's Assembly vote "that would make New Jersey’s medical marijuana law the most restrictive in the country," stricter than the Senate version that passed last winter. Potheads, sick people, and their medical supporters (New Jersey State Nurse Organization, New Jersey Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the ACLU, among others) will rally 11 am., Statehouse Annex, Committee Room 8.

Not stepping forward but watching with interest: the drug and farm lobbies, who'd benefit from higher drug use and sales.
