McLaren's Philly dealership tops U.S. sales, plans 2d outlet

The McLaren Philadelphia luxury-car dealership, which retails $239,000 12C Coupes and $268,000 12C Spider convertibles from its property on West Chester Pike near Willistown, out where some folks have big cash for big toys, says it led the nine-dealer U.S. McLaren network with 30 sales during the first four months of the year -- leading other showrooms in Roslyn, N.Y., Greenwich, Conn., Newport Beach, Beverly Hills, San Francisco, Coral Gables, and other high-end towns.

The delalership's owner, Robert DiStanislao' RDS Enterprises, plans to open a second location in Tysons Corner, Va., next month, says manager Phillip Jones.

Jones said the rising U.S. stock market has contributed to rising sales of British-based McLaren; he also credited dealership staff -- and added that customers are bringing in a lot of used Ferraris to trade: "They're our biggest competitor, on the Formula One track and off. But ours is easier to drive."
