Irish Chief seeks Philly capital amid home bailouts

Irish Taioseach (Prime Minister) Enda Kelly was in Philadelphia Friday, seeking old friends and new contacts as his country struggles with bank bailouts and resurgent emigration.

Kelly met with Gov. Tom Corbett at the Union League and later with Irish-American judges and lawyers at a breakfast funded by IBEW Local 98 President John J. Dougherty Jr.

Doc also heads the Irish Society of Philadelphia, which will also be hosting Kelly rival Gerry Adams of the nationalist Sinn Fein party at the Penns Landing Hyatt, at a dinner honoring Lt. Gov. Jim Cawley and others, Nov. 9. More in my column in Sunday's Philadelphia Inquirer starting here.
