Home Depot contractor hiring 900

POSTED: Monday, February 13, 2012, 4:09 PM

Bell Nursery, Burtonsville, Md., says it's recruiting more than 900 drivers, loaders, display and plant care workers workers this Spring for seasonal tree and garden jobs at Home Depot stores in the Philadelphia area and nearby states. More at www.bellimpact.com.

The announcement comes as the Labor Department is tightening guidelines for foreign nursery workers and other labor imported under the H-2 visa program.

Seasonal jobs, which are better than nothing, are marginally helpful. Not a newsworthy story...

I see your point, but 900 paying jobs is pretty significant for one metro area; the larger question for me is what effect (if any) this will have on the hiring of illegal immigrant labor in that job market.

merchandiser.......and your point is? Genetic sequencing of plants has not evolved enough to allow them to transport themselves to a retail outlet.
