Stung by the recessionary drop in premium-priced entertainment spending, Philadelphia Flyers and 76ers owner Comcast-Spectacor is offering cut-rate tickets and packages to lure middle-income people back to pro sports.

President Peter Luukko today announced a string of "Recession Buster" discount ticket offers "to encourage fans to attend upcoming hockey and basketball games, as well as other events, at the Wachovia Center," plus "Buzzer Beater" last-minute ticket deals "similar to those offered via airlines or Broadway tickets," via e-mail notification.

Starts with a package of two Flyers and a Sixers ticket for a total of $100. Also includes:

Family specials:
- Four Sixers tickets, each with hot dog, drink and movie pass from Comcast-Spectacor affiliate Fandango, for $76 (upper level) or $150 (lower level).
- Four Flyers tickets, each with a Flyer hat, in partnership with McDonald's, for $100.
- At the Flyers, in partnership with Lehigh Valley Farms dairy, a family section priced at $10/kid, $20/adult

Sixers: Guys Night Out: Four tickets, four beers, four hot dogs, four calendars, four Dave & Buster's Power Cards: $175 (downstairs), $125 (upstairs). Or Ladies Night Out: Two includes two tickets, two chicken salads, two glasses of wine, two T-shirts, two $25 spa gift cards, for $75 (lower level) or $50 (upper level).

Also all-you-can-eat deals for both teams, and Sixers $10 mezzanine seats.

@BHite15 - The Flyers never have a problem filling the arena. Even with high prices and a recession the building is still 95% full most nights. And guess what, even when they stink the building is 95% full. The Phillies, sure they've been selling out, but guess what before this run they are on they didn't come close to selling out. As far as attendance is a concern the Flyers over their history have had the most loyal fan base show up for their games. And by the way, If I recall the Phillies started with all the discounted tickets. Dollar dog nights, college nights etc.

Wow, what creative minds the Suxers have in the marketing department. I have a better idea. How bout they pay me $76 and i'll think about going to a game if there are no good reruns on TV.

ksu, the Phillies didn't sell out before their current run but they were still drawing 15-25K per game to the Vet when they sucked

Fire Stefanski today. He is a complete clueless joke. I'm not paying for anything Sixers until he is gone.

$100 or $150 for a family to see the Sixers. How about $5 tickets - you will get some people in the seats and spending money on concessions. The marketing down there is so minor league. From the out of date in game promotions to Matt Cord (the worst arena announcer ever). They are misguided thinking people will shell out $100+ when there is nobody in the building.

How about Free Parking. $15 is a bit much considering you can get in to a Sixers game for $10. Comcast-Spectacor is out of their minds. We demand a better product.

I am a long-time Flyers -- glad they are reducing prices somewhat. With 2 mid-level seats, parking, and concessions, you're looking at well over $100, maybe near $200 these days. Add in the drive down and back from the burbs and that's a lot of hassle and cost -- especially for a weeknight. Leaves a bitter taste when they lose (which fortunately is becoming more rare) and all you can think about sitting in the traffic jam to go home is how Spectacor boned you hard and fast.

Wonder if they'll offer some break to the season ticket holders who forked up $$ months before the seasons started so these teams could earn interest on the money. The privilage of being a dedicated fan is to be screwed by Comcast!

I agree with JB215, charge $5 for all mezzanine seats, just to get people in the arena. Then you have people spending at the concession stands, and maybe a bigger crowd can urge the players to play better. The other packages aren't deals at all, when people don't even want to go if they have free tickets in many cases, not worth the hassle.

Th, so the Phils averaged 15-20,000 for a 60,000 seat park like the Vet; that is only 1/3 capacity. The Flyers have always sold out the majority of their games in a 17,000 seat arena, even back to the Spectrum days. To Bhite, once the Phillies drop in the standings the Flyers will once again be the second most popular team in the city after the Iggles. None of the other three teams has been as successful over the course of their history as the Flyers have.

I thought you flyer fans were loyal..... The pens have sold out every game since 2006 and have a 4,000 seat waiting list for season tix. They sill do offer 500 tix for student rush which are $16.00 and 2,000 tix on game day. Face it there are only 19,000 flyer fans in this city and most you live under rocks.
