Of course it does. As it does Mitt Romney. Romney brags about how once he took over running the financially failing Olympic games in Salt Lake, under his management, he turned the Olympics around. How did he do it? Went to the federal government and asked for money. Conservatives are the poster child for hypocrisy.

Shilling is the poster boy for the term hypocrite. I would love to know how much of his own money he's invested and lost (if any).

No it would not be hypocritical if he was "Lent" the money. Typically when entitys "lend" money there is due diligence done on the borrower to see if they are credit worthy. Was this done is the question. Did Schilling put up any collateral? It is now up to the lender to go after Schillings assets. Typically when any entity has to go to the government for a "loan" it ends up bad as the the government is the lender of last resort. The potential lenders out in the free market most likely have done their due diligence and concluded that it was a bad investment. This is why we find our country in the state it is in. This is why Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, and soon Sallie Mae are always losing money. The banksters get their fees and commisions up front for peddling these bad loans and the politicians get political donations from the banksters and then years later when the loans go bad its the taxpayers that get stuck with the bill.

Just another reason to not like Schilling- I didn't like the way he treated his "team" members (phillies) when he was a part of our team- and never shed a tear when he left...and now he is still not a team player- the difference is taxpayer money is involved this time, not sports money. maybe I will just put a towel over my head like he used to do, when there is something you don't want to see be messed up....

I see that the Governors of Rhode Island and Maryland are complete and utter idiots. I hope Gov. Corbett doesn't fall for this bamboozle. How can you lend $175 Million to a baseball player who is running a video programming company with no real experience? Failure was the only option.

Too bad they couldn't make this work. "Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning" (their one release) is a pretty good game...

Hmmmmm. No parallels to Solyndra? Taxpayer money wasted on failed companies where the principals get huge bonuses. Of course not. The messiah's guys approved that one. Nothing to see here. Move on.

How did they get the ok to lend taxpayer dollars to a losing cause? They should ask for all the money back now, right now.

those 1993 phillies are running up quite a shady reputation: first and foremost dykstra, now schilling and even dutch daulton has had his share of legal troubles...i fondly remembered them as a bunch of freewheeling spirits and lovable mugs who nearly won it all...nowadays their legal and financial troubles is all i'm remembering...no one can take away their accomplishments on the field, but off the field it's a damn shame how troubles have followed them...sad...

I most remember Schilling crying that he was bored during the strike in the early 90's. I never looked at him in a positive light after that. He's a ME ME ME guy. I shook my head when he retired and flirted with running for public office; US Senator I believe. Now, at least, this entire episode should put the kibosh on that and give him enough of a public embarrassment image that he can quietly slip away into obscurity.
