Comcast to hire 425

POSTED: Wednesday, March 20, 2013, 10:18 AM

Philadelphia-based Comcast Corp.'s Comcast Cable division says it plans a "state-of-the-art customer support center" in Susquehanna Township, suburban Harrisburg.

Comcast "will immediately begin recruiting from across Central Pennsylvania for 425 new positions for the facility," the company said in a statement. Comcast says its total Pennsylvania employment will total 12,000 once the Harrisburg-area jobs are filled. Apply at www.comcast-jobs.com

In this statement, Gov. Tom Corbett thanked Comcast for adding jobs. Comcast executive vice president and political fundraiser David L. Cohen recently endorsed Corbett's reelection bid.

Hey! More bad customer service! Must be for their vendors because the average subscriber is always routed to India or some other godforsaken place where they never correct the issue. Sad.

FYI, Dish and DirectTV are MUCH cheaper and better.

Also, the day where a company the size of Comcast says its going to hire "425 people" and its front page news is a sad day for America.

Guess Democrats are too busy worrying about useless gun laws, aggravating the Sequester and allowing TSA to allow knives/Saudi Arabians back on flights to worry about the failing economy and the over 14%(u6) unemployment rate.

Show America a shiny new trinket and their easily distracted from the real issues.

At least Comcast's customer service reps are in the United States, and they're good in comparison to Verizon.

When FIOS first came out I was interested... I called Verizon SALES and got connected to an idiot in India who knew nothing. I figured, if their sales process was so cheap and unhelpful, billing and tech support must be abysmal. Comcast support has noticeably improved.

WArranted criticism in the past, but I think Comcast has noticeably improved just as others have said here. In fact, it has been pretty darn good recently. Verizon has gone backwards, horrific, which is why I went back.

Well, if you woke up, pulled your head out of your arse, and realized that your fellow American is being screwed by continued ultra-high unemployment, rising inflation, rising gas prices and a virtual "police state" at home...

You would realize that Comcast saying its hiring 400 people is a freggin' joke!

But that's ok...you're too busy to be worried about real issues.

Cannot believe how many ungrateful, uneducated hammers are posting here. Comcast is one of our largest area employers - while MANY other big companies fled this region they stayed and built their headquarters in a brand new state of the art building - proving TONS of $$ and work for Pennsylvanians (ie hiring many of our ungrateful and corrupt union meat heads). Here they are creating MORE JOBS for Pennsylvanians and still you all throw them under the bus. If they are so awful, why are they growing like crazy and wildly successful??!

Recently, I spoke with a Comcast service tech on a house call repairing a line damaged by Hurricane Sandy. He said he (and others like him) has had six pay cuts in the past five years. Six pay cuts in five years. Nice going Comcast, greedy slobs. Those 425 jobs? Bet they'll all be part time positions with no benefits.
