Amazon seeks 'hundreds' for Lehigh Valley jobs

"Online retailer plans to hire several hundred full-time workers to its warehouse and shipping center in Breiningsville, Pa. that the company opened last year," in the I-78 free-highway/cheap-land corridor I call America's Warehouse, reports the Allentown Call here.

"Wage information for the positions was not disclosed. In previous hiring campaigns, Amazon said the positions paid up to $12.25 hourly. Applications are being processed by the staffing firm ISS...

"Applicants must be 18 years or older, have a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma and be able to lift 50 pounds... For more information or to apply, go to or call 484-809-7716."

Amazon also operates a big warehouse in New Castle, Del. The company has been resisting efforts by its home state, California, to collect sales taxes on Internet sales. Texas and other states have caved in to Amazon's demand to preserve Amazon warehouse jobs. Not an issue in Delaware, where there are no sales taxes (and no much municipal government, either.)
