Merck to move NJ headquarters

In the latest sign of cost-cutting by drugmakers, Merck says it will shut its 20-year-old headquarters complex in Whitehouse Station, NJ, and move 2,000 staff to its partly-empty research and consumer operations facility in nearby Summit, NJ, and to other offices in Branchburg and Cokesbury.

"The relocation of our headquarters will help us achieve our future vision, reduce the size of our operating footprint, and increase agility as we adapt to our changing business environment," said Kenneth C. Frazier, chairman and chief executive officer of Merck, in this statement.
