Top recruit commits to Ohio State

Noah Spence, the five-star defensive line recruit out of Bishop McDevitt High School in Harrisburg, verbally committed to Ohio State on Sunday night, according to Bob Lichtenfels, the East regional recruiting manager for Scout.com.

Noah Spence, the five-star defensive line recruit out of Bishop McDevitt High School in Harrisburg, verbally committed to Ohio State on Sunday night, according to Bob Lichtenfels, the East regional recruiting manager for Scout.com.

Minutes after Lichtenfels broke the news on Twitter, Spence tweeted from his personal Twitter account (@nspence94): "Ohio State buckeye nation lets go!!"

Penn State had been one of the favorites to land Spence before the recent sexual abuse scandal rocked the University last month.

Interim head coach Tom Bradley and multiple assistants were in Hershey on Friday night to see Spence play in the PIAA Class AAA championship game, which Bishop McDevitt lost to Archbishop Wood, 52-0. Newly hired Ohio State coach Urban Meyer was also there, and Spence made his official visit to Ohio State this weekend.

This is another blow to Penn State, which has already lost two of its verbal commitments for the Class of 2012.
