Penn State's Joey Julius continues to struggle in win over Illinois

In Penn State's 39-0 victory over Illinois, kicker Joey Julius had two extra points blocked and booted a punt out of bounds.

Penn State brought in junior Tyler Davis and sophomore Danny Pasquariello to take over kicking and punting duties for the remainder of the game. Davis logged a perfect rest of the game in terms of field goals and extra points, giving the team a little extra cushion as they went on to shutout Illinois. But Davis did resemble Julius is one less-than-shining moment when he too booted a punt out of bounds.

Franklin has talked in previous weeks about possibly holding open tryouts for kickers, but said he decided against it because his players were performing well in practice. They just needed to convert it to the games, he has said.
