Reports: Penn State player altercation sends McGloin to hospital

Penn State's office of public information released a statement Saturday night regarding the locker-room fight between starting quarterback Matt McGloin and wide receiver Curtis Drake that took place after football practice earlier in the day. The contents of the statement are below.

"Penn State Police were called to the football locker room this afternoon to investigate a report of a fight between two members of the Nittany Lions football team -- Matt McGloin and Curtis Drake -- after they finished practice.

McGloin was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center where he was examined, treated and released.

Campus police and Penn State's Office of Judicial Affairs will investigate the incident and report results as they would for any other student involved in an incident on campus."

Penn State starting quarterback Matt McGloin and wide receiver Curtis Drake were allegedly involved in an altercation after practice Saturday that sent McGloin to the hospital.

Details about the alleged fight are unclear, but McGloin's father Paul told the Harrisburg Patriot-News that his son was being checked out for a possible seizure.

After the incident allegedly occurred earlier Saturday, the team met in the afternoon for about 10 minutes. Drake, the former West Catholic High School star, was seen entering and leaving the building for the team meeting. McGloin was not seen.

An officer manning the front desk at the offices for the Penn State police department said they are investigating the incident and to expect a statement from the University's public information office sometime Saturday evening.
