Pre-Media Day Notes

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- We're about 20 minutes away from Joe Paterno's Media Day press conference, but first, a few items:

Exiled defensive tackle Chris Baker is enrolled at Hampton University, according to Hampton team spokesman Maurice Williams. Because Hampton -- a black college in Virginia -- is part of the Football Subdivsion, Baker won't have to sit the year he would have had to had he decided to try to transfer to a Division I-A program. There is no official word on where defensive tackle Phil Taylor may land. Both players, if you recall, were kicked off the team last week by Paterno.

Also, offensive lineman Josh Marks left the team earlier this week. A redshirt freshman, Marks was No. 2 on the depth chart at right guard behind Stefen Wisniewski. Paterno should have some news as to whether Marks is gone for good or just taking a break.

We'll have a short post following Paterno's presser with the highlights. Check back.
