Phil Taylor to Baylor

Former Penn State defensive tackle Phil Taylor is transferring to Baylor, per his high school coach, according to a BlueWhite Illustrated report. Taylor, a 6-foot-4, 335-pound junior, will follow former Lions assistant and now Baylor defensive coordinator Brian Norwood to Texas.

Taylor, if you recall, was giving his walking papers two weeks ago, along with defensive tackle Chris Baker, who is now enrolled at Hampton University. Baker, a redshirt junior, doesn't have to sit out a year because he's dropping down to the Football Subdivision. Taylor will have to take a year before playing since he's staying at the Division I-A level.

Also, in case you missed it, Sports Illustrated had the Lions ranked No. 22 in their preseason rankings. However, they had them finishing 8-4 overall and 4-4 in the Big Ten. Not necessarily the type of year Nits fans would settle for.
